Developing media outreach projects and implemented strategic plans. Help client staff and nationals understand how media can be an effective method of reaching their target demographic. Creating web and blog sites, developing media strategies and managing projects like the entertainment-education web-comic project. Produced a feature film in India. 1983-1998  Media consultant, Handclasp International. Working in Asia and Africa in the development of Christian entertainment-education media projects. Feature film, SABINA’S ENCOUNTER has been see by millions and is currently selected for screening in a number of film festivals.

 1976  – 1983    Senior Partner, IMPACT COMMUNICATORS, a privately owned advertising and visual media agency in Anaheim, California. Duties included client liaison, creative design management of all printed and visual materials for several Fortune 500 clients. Also handled direct mail fundraising for non-profit clients.

Consulting Media

January 2004 – An analysis of student attitudes toward and participation in the Intercollegiate NRB convention, February 14-18, 2004 in Charlotte, NC.  Project included design and implementation of focus group qualitative study, analysis and production of confidential report for the membership secretary and NRB president.

January 2000- 2011: Regional Media Strategy Consultant for major non-profit. Position involves strategy development and process review of all media activities

January 1984 – January 2000: Senior Training Consultant under long-term contract with Handclasp International (HCI), an educational & charitable non-profit organization that assists communication development workers in Africa and Asia through mentor style interaction & workshops. Also implement research and projects. Based in Cairo and Nairobi.

Projects: Media Outreach

 1991- Writer/Producer of Sabina’s Encounter, a 40 minute dramatic film about a barren woman and her struggle to live in her culture. Translated into Swahili, African French and English.  By 2000 it had been seen by 15 million people on television, mobile cinema and video.

1990- Writer/Producer of A Healthy Step, a 12-minute environmental sanitation film with underlying devlopment theme.  Aired on television in Kenya, Zimbabwe and Uganda.

1990- Sudan Literature Center: Designed a three-month training program for development writers from Sudan. This program included training sessions in publication management, developmental communications, editing, photography and technical production. The result was a magazine on development issues in Sudan.

1991 – Production and distribution of the first ever Christian Gospel worship tape in Kenya, Mileyie Sukurani

1990- CPK, Diocese of Kiranyaga: Reviewed status of existing government schools operated by Diocese. Recommended changes related to teaching structure and addition of new schools in region.

1988- Christian Industrial Training Center: Review curriculum and recommended phased changes to upgrade teaching methodologies. Various fund raising proposals.


1994 – Film for Swedish television on the CHILDREN OF SUDAN. Sponsored by Save the Children (wrote and co-produced)

1993 – Radda Barnen: Interviews and preliminary research related to RB’s handling of the primary education program in Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya.

1993 – Analysis of office space requirements and implementations of a more effective use of space through standardization of office sizes and open space planning for a Nairobi based development organization. Staff assessment, grading and salary policies for key staff.

1992 – Kenya Teachers Training College: Under contract for the Canadian International Development Agency, designed and implemented a six month staff training program to establish an income generation project within this Government of Kenya institution.

1987-88 – Research & development of educational objectives for an integrated entertainment-education children’s television series in the Middle East. Worked with various funding agencies including USAID-Cairo, UNICEF-Amman and development of proposal.
